Leadership Teams and Work Teams
I have a life-long fascination with high-performing teams. I’ve watched teammates bond, succeed together, celebrate each other. I've been a member of several close-knit, successful teams whether in the military, in busy restaurants, school and amateur sports, or information technology. Through years of supporting Fortune 500 business and non-profit organizational development initiatives across a spectrum of industries as a project manager and as a consultant, I discussed these things with the professionals who were most responsible to create and sustain a healthy work environment throughout their companies. Now, I help teams at any level of an organization experience the victories, self-awareness, and human connection that comes with great teamwork.
Leaders and Managers
There was a time when I was as an IT project manager and there were way too many projects and too little of me. When I cried “uncle” to my employer at the time, THEY LISTENED! The way they took care of me in the following weeks and months ingrained so many lessons about how to create my own healthy boundaries, and from their example, about how organizations can respond to people in ways that affirm them, spark their loyalty, and regain their high level of engagement. I understand what a huge difference that makes! So I'm thrilled when someone comes for one-on-one coaching to develop their leadership skills. It’s not just for them. It’s for their team members, their peers, their organization. It can be so impactful.
Need a change of scenery?
It could be a promotion, a lateral move within the same company, or time to make your way to a brand new situation. Transitions are among the most important times in our lives as we choose a future direction for ourselves and our families. They are also times when we have the power to choose our future. My assessment process can open you up to possibilities you might have missed, and growth edges to focus on in pursuit of your next act. I know the importance of staying active while in transition. So together, we’ll create accountability structures that will keep you motivated to keep forging ahead.
What I Do
Effective coaching is a collaborative effort that requires a high degree of honesty and trust between us. My coaching is a conversational process with four key elements:
You can learn more about some of the theory I find most helpful in coaching by visiting my FAQs page.
What is it like to be coached?
We usually begin with assessments that help us uncover your values, strengths, situation, and highest-priority goals. We’ll analyze the results together and then co-create a coaching plan that best fits the way you process your thoughts and discover new ideas. This often involves your inclination to focus either on actions and behaviors, or on deeper attitudes and motivations, or the right mix of both.
However we decide to proceed, your conversations with me should feel like those you would have someone you deeply trust and who has a knack for asking questions that encourage you to think more deeply and fearlessly than ever before about the future state you want to create, the obstacles both within and outside of yourself that might get in the way, and how you can overcome the obstacles to create your desired future state. We’ll tackle the hills, rivers, plains, and valleys in front of you at a pace that challenges you to grow but never faster than you decide to move.
My coaching should never feel like I’m trying to “fix” you as though you’re broken. It’s more about bringing your strengths to the fore and being your partner in growth!
Here's how my clients most often envision the path to their ideal future state:
-
Level up their ability to inspire and encourage their teams to reach business goals
-
Clarify the values, vision and mission of their team or organization
-
Become a respected champion of healthy and productive team behaviors
-
Develop a roster of “strong players” for positions of greater responsibility
-
Navigate the complex landscape of “middle management”
-
Bring the goals of efforts of separate teams into organizational alignment
My clients have called me their thought partner, accountability partner, a wall to bounce ideas off, and a trusted confidant. I am honored and humbled to have been told such things, and I would be honored to be that for your current and emerging Leader/managers.

ABOUT ME
Supporting others has always been what comes to me most naturally. Great leaders I've been associated with have modeled it to me, and I wanted to study and emulate it. In so doing, I learned that it is deeply satisfying to create the conditions for teams and people to flourish, and then to watch them succeed in their most meaningful and worthwhile pursuits.
I have over 40 years of management and leadership experience in the U.S. military, in private industry, and in the non-profit sector, most of this in the fields of information technology and organizational training and development. I'm convinced that leadership traits can be learned and practiced, and that for many people the journey begins with self-leadership.
My life-long passion to contribute to the success of others has led me to obtain certifications from the Center for Christian Coaching (2023), the International Coaching Federation (2024), and the Center for Executive Coaching (2025).
A proud Buffalo native, after nearly 9 years of military service I made the Washington, D.C. area "home base" for 40 years. My wife and I have landed next to the beach in Southern Delaware, where we live within a short drive of both of our adult kiddos. I enjoy friends here who educate me about the live music scene up and down the beach.
